Freight Handler
Job Summary of Freight Handler:
You will assist in the warehouse operations by carrying out a range of duties like selecting, packaging, putting together, organizing, delivering, and accepting orders. This position plays a crucial part in achieving the productivity and quality objectives of the establishment while maintaining smooth operations in a dynamic setting.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Freight Handler:
- Examine production timetables, client requests, job directives, delivery requests, or procurement forms to identify materials to be relocated or collected.
- Transfer goods and objects from receiving or manufacturing zones to assigned storage spots.
- Organize and categorize items based on their unique SKU numbers, amounts, and category of product.
- Utilize an electric pallet jack and a stand-up forklift for the transportation of goods as needed.
- Use a safety harness while ascending 25 feet on a cherry picker.
- Effectively relay messages to individuals responsible for receiving items, transporting goods, and operating forklifts.
- Adhere to safety protocols during truck and trailer towing operations.
- Organize and place items in specified sections within the warehouse.
- Manage equipment provided by the company, such as personal protective gear and communication devices.
- Bring to light any safety issues present in the workplace.
- Adhere to the mandatory dress code by wearing the uniform provided by the company.
- Gather customer purchases from inventory and get them ready for delivery.
- Apply identifying details to the pallets and open any containers if required for labeling.
Qualifications and Experience of Freight Handler:
- - A high school diploma or GED is required, or a period of one to three months of relevant experience or training could be accepted.
- Proficiency in handling an electric pallet jack and vertical forklift.
- Capable of rising to a height of 25 feet using a cherry picker while wearing a safety harness.
- Effective communication and collaborative abilities are essential.
- Capacity to thrive in a high-energy setting that requires physical exertion.
