Job Summary of Shipping Supervisor:

The role encompasses overseeing activities associated with the delivery process. Primary responsibilities include supervising delivery staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and upholding safety and security measures within the delivery department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Shipping Supervisor:

• Administer the daily tasks and well-being of delivery personnel, ensuring compliance with guidelines and specified routes.
• Uphold adherence to guidelines established by DOT, OSHA, and other authorities, and ensure accurate electronic log management.
• Successfully manage labor and supplies costs through careful monitoring and allocation to meet budget restrictions.
• Manage and oversee work rosters, incorporating any necessary extra work schedules.
• Manage the asset usage in delivery activities and facilitate the repair procedures as necessary.
• Review productivity summaries and suggest ways to increase operational productivity.
• Ensure that company regulations are consistently enforced.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing to handle customer service and shipping complications collaboratively.
• Engage in customer visits to identify delivery challenges and address any concerns raised by clients.
• Improve overall morale and productivity by prioritizing positive associate relations through open communication and regular meetings.
• Observe the enthusiasm of the workforce and recommend ideas to improve employee engagement.
• Promoting safety training, assessments, and accident reviews.
• Handle the selection, development, enforcement, and appraisal of staff members.
• - Undertake supervisory duties and other operational roles as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience of Shipping Supervisor:

• The basic requirement for this role is a high school diploma or equivalent, though candidates holding an associate or bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain are preferred.
• It is essential to have gained 1-3 years of experience or training in a related area.
• Attendance in a defensive driving program approved by Sysco is obligatory.
• It is favorable for applicants to have a HazMat certification and a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Capable of effectively communicating, leading, and tackling problems successfully.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office and capable of quickly understanding internal software.
• Comprehension of FMCSR directives and competency in executing regulations and practices.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and remain composed under pressure.
